The cost for courses in Australia are normally calculated per Unit and not per year. So the fees you will pay for your study in a specific semester will vary depending on the chosen Units. 

Another cost you should consider is Amenities fees and Student Services costs. These costs can go maximum up to AU$298 (2018) in total. Not all universities in Australia charge this, but make sure you check it so that it is not an unexpected expense.

  • Secondary School – $7,800 to $30,000 
  • English language studies – Around $300 per week depending on course length
  • Vocational Education and Training (Certificates I to IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) – $4,000 to $22,000

  • Postgraduate Masters Degree – $22,000 to $50,000*

Cost Of Living In Australia

Australian Department of Home Affairs requires you to have a specified minimum amount for your yearly living expenses in Australia. You will need to show that you have access to the below amount (as of October 2019) for your student visa.

  • For students or guardians – AUD$21,041
  • If your partner is coming with you, additional cost – AUD$7,362
  • If a child coming with you, additional cost – AUD$3,152

You need to show the above mentioned amount as per Australian Immigration Department to issue Student visa. But you may not need to actually spend that much once you arrive in Australia.

Cost Of Student Visa Australia

The cost for Student Visa Australia (Subclass 500) is AS$620, unless exempt. Apart from this you will need to arrange for OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) for yourself and for the accompanying family members. The OSHC is mandatory to have for the duration of your stay in Australia on Student Visa.
